The Mindful Creative Development Workshop

August 24 - August 30

The Creative Development Workshop is an immersive, skills-enhancement initiative that blends mindfulness with visual content creation. It is designed for creative professionals of all levels and will empower participants through a series of expert-led sessions and interactive experiences. The program aims to advance technical and conceptual skills in visual storytelling while promoting cultural appreciation and responsible engagement with local communities.

This workshop is particularly relevant for media and communications professionals seeking to create high-impact, mindful content that resonates with diverse audiences. It encourages the development of visual narratives that are both compelling and respectful of the context in which they are created.

The event will kick off with 1 virtual workshop led by Mr. Kee Liong on the 7th of August, 2025. The Virtual Session will be followed by a 3-day in-person capacity building workshop and field trip in Bhutan from the 24th-30th August, 2025.

The creative capacity-building workshop will focus on the in-person expert-led sessions. The sessions will delve into the importance of mindfulness in the creative process. Participants will explore ways to enhance their creative abilities, focusing on techniques that sharpen their observation and expression skills. The focus will be on fostering a sustainable and thoughtful approach to creating visual content, with an emphasis on how mindful practices can enhance creative output.

With the sharing of experience and networking between creatives from Bhutan and from Singapore, it is expected to bring progress and enhanced skills in the Bhutanese creative industry.

The capacity-building workshop will end with an exhibition two weeks later, showcasing selected participants’ works in both countries, celebrating creativity and cultural connection.

EVENT DATE
The in-person workshop will be held for 3 days tentatively from August 25th – 27th, 2025.

TARGET AUDIENCE
The workshop targets innovative individuals interested in building or enhancing their creative skills.

SESSIONS
There will be one online interactive session led by Mr. Kee Liong, giving techniques on visual content creation for social media.

Session 1: Cultivating Presence (Online) 7th August, 2025

The first online session will begin by learning mindfulness techniques to enhance participants’ observation and presence while creating visual content. Participants will engage in interactive exercises that set the foundation for mindful practices. Participants will explore the methods of photography (posed vs unposed, formal vs casual), and the types of photography—ranging from natural and man-made scenes to people, objects, and landmarks. Participants will reflect on photography not just as a visual craft, but as a medium of expression, manipulation, and even technological documentation.

Session 2: The Mindful Creative Development Workshop (in-person) 24th – 30th August, 2025

Participants will travel to picturesque landscapes of Bhutan for a hands-on skill-building workshop experience. Guided by Mr. Kee Liong, participants will practice mindfulness in the moment, capturing breathtaking scenery, engaging with local culture and people, and connecting with the environment. This session emphasizes experiential learning, encouraging participants to reflect on their surroundings and find deeper meaning in their creative journeys while providing participants with technical knowledge to enhance their expertise. The workshop will also integrate working with the Bhutanese network of creatives to form a Bhutanese Photography Association.

EXPECTED OUTCOME

  • Professional Enrichment: Participants will develop advanced skills in photography and visual content creation, enriched by a deeper understanding of mindful engagement—beneficial for both internal communications and public-facing campaigns.
  • Enhanced Cultural Competency: The experience will foster a stronger connection to Bhutan’s cultural identity, contributing to more authentic and informed storytelling within your media outputs.
  • Creative Community Building: Participants will contribute to the establishment of a Bhutanese creative network and foster meaningful exchanges with Singaporean professionals, opening doors for future collaborations.

CONCLUSION

The Creative Development Workshop represents a unique opportunity for professionals and beginners to refine their creative skills while gaining a deeper appreciation of Bhutan’s values and landscapes. Through immersive sessions, experiential learning, and international collaboration, the program encourages mindful creativity that can significantly enhance the team’s approach to storytelling, communication, and brand representation.
